Using New Possibilities: Compositor v9 Max for Live Plugin for Mastering

Mastering and Production Updates

Recently, I updated the Compositor V9 Max for Live Plugin and compared it with the Compositor V4 Mastering Processor. For my title “Exalted – Visions,” I conducted a mastering session. The twelve’s profile represents a challenge for the depths in the mix, but the sound image is satisfactory overall. I applied a New York compression trick and combined the direct sound with the Compositor Profile Processing. Spectral clarity in Compositor V4 is an excellent tool, especially for extensive product updates such as the Compositor V9.

Although I encountered some problems with the full-screen mode in the Max for Live version, the standalone option provided a reliable alternative. After mastering with the Compositor V4, the mix initially sounded unusually flat, so I optimized the sound image with a multiband compressor and limiter.

Album Distribution and Planning

I am now in the process of finding a distributor for my upcoming album “Boosty – Middle” and have chosen to start with a package from Ditto Music Distribution. Although I don’t have concrete results yet, I’m looking forward to seeing the outcomes of my publishing and marketing efforts. Current restrictions on money transfers to Russia pose challenges, but I remain optimistic.

Compositor V9 serves as a modular solution that integrates smoothly with the MDL12 modem environment. I intend to produce a track specifically for non-duplex sound. Meanwhile, with the Violet Tree EP, I am striving to identify the most effective production approach. While the Compositor V4 produces a powerful sound, the hardware version is expensive—around 2500 euros or more—making it a significant but essential investment for my artistic growth.

Personal Reflections and Motivation

The three-day run of the Game Boy Server was an incredibly immersive experience that reignited my motivation to produce music. It gave me a sense of returning to my youth, and my inner child once again proved to be a skilled computer user. I also managed to restore two notebooks, providing me with more flexibility to use Compositor V9 as either a Max 6 or Max 9 application.

Because my operations are largely automated and supported by AI, they remain functional even in my absence. Managing my health through strong medication is challenging, but I remain patient and motivated to continue expanding my production activities. Despite medical advice to reduce support for my mother, I still plan to visit her weekly for dinner and maintain our connection.
